So how hard is it to use peel and sticks. Here are some hints:

Thoroughly clean wall and make sure it is dry. For recently colored walls let paint "cure" for 10 to 15 days prior to installing decals. Even if new paint feels dry, it may nonetheless need to settle and completely dry. Peel and Stick Wall Decals are not advised on "Orange Peel" textured walls, over cinder blocks, very uneven and permeable surfaces, wallpaper or fragile surfaces. Wall stickers are OK to apply onto tile providing the surface is clean and completely free of moisture during application. Be certain the design element does not overlap grout area as water could possibly filter under and damage the adhesive. Apply onto shower walls, given that they are positioned snugly onto the surface area so moisture cannot get under the design element. Once applied, RoomMates will not move even if sprayed by shower.


Vinyl wall decals must not be placed in a dishwater or microwave and they must not be positioned on rugs, fabrics and any other textiles. Textile fibers may stick to the adhesive and destroy the product. Also, don't position at the bottom or inside the tub. Water could filter under the wall decal too easily and would damage the adhesive. When using, make sure you get started from one side (for the border) or the top (for the appliques) of each element. Keep the rest of the element at a distance from the wall/surface. Gradually go straight down over the design with your hand and smooth the element onto surface (and press the bubbles out as you go). Once put on you should be able to move any remaining bubbles out by pressing/smoothing them out of the element. If the difficulty persists (this would solely happen with the giant decals), you can punch a very small (invisible to the eye) hole with a pin to push the air out.

In all, it will always be most effective to check wall decals in an inconspicuous area. If the surface area is uneven, effectiveness could be significantly reduced. Make sure surface is clean of dust and dirt or you may damage the adhesive and wreck the merchandise.
